Fashion tips and tricks you wouldn't regret

We always come across new fashion ideas all the time also, we discover and try out new tricks all the time too.

Below are some fashion tricks and tips you would appreciate...

1. If you have an oil stain on your white cloth, after washing it, let the stained part face the rays of the sunlight directly. When the cloth gets dry, the stain will be gone.

2. Tie a silk or satin scarf on your head before going to bed at night. If you are the type that wakes up with their scarf on the other side of the bed, then use silk or satin pillow cases to cover your pillows. This prevents hair breakage.

3. After shower, use your hair dryer to de-fog your mirror.

4. Try on some flattering accessories such as sunglasses and scarves, these gives even the most simplest cloth an instant and unique transformation.

5. Air dry all wet shoes. Never dry a wet shoe with heat, as this reduces the life span of the shoe.

6. If you sprayed excess perfume on yourself, use an oil based makeup remover that is scentless to remove the excess perfume.

7. Use white wine for the removal of red wine stains.

8. Never wear a cloth immediately after ironing , as this will make new wrinkles to form and you'll wish you never ironed it ib the first place.

9. If you get your handbag stained with oil, pour baby powder on the stain.

10. Panty lines are a very big NO in the fashion world. Nobody wants to see 'em, so go invest in nude panties.

MORE CUCUMBERS, PLS...!

Everyone knows cucumbers are veggies and can be eaten but not everybody knows that they can be used to clean sinks and mirrors.

Here are more tricks you could do with your cucumber.

Anti-fog mirrors

It is always annoying when one gets out of the shower only to find fog on the mirror. When such happens, cut out a slice of cucumber and rub it on the mirror, then use a clean rag to clean it off. You will find a sweet smelling and fog-free mirror.

Tarnish remover

If you happen to see tarnish on your stainless steel kitchen faucets and appliances, just rub it off with a cucumber slice. This will leave your appliances spotlesa and clean.

Emergency shoe polish

Do you want to polish your shoe? Quit searching for your normal polish in every nook and cranny of the house. Instead use a slice of cucumber to rub on your shoes and wipe off using a clean piece of cloth. The usage of cucumber also helps to repel water.

Sunburn

Cucumber helps to treat sunburn. If you happen to be sunburned, rub some cucumber on your body. You can mix it with aloe vera and rub on your body. Sometimes, doctors use cucumber to treat patients with sunburns, as this is very effective.

Steam stress away

Are you  tired and you don't have time to visit the spa? Just cut a whole cucumber and place in a boiling pot of water, the nutrients and chemicals from the cucumber will react with the boiling water and released through the steam. This creates a soothing and fantastic aroma that helps to reduce stress.

Eraser

The outside of the cucumber works great at helping to erase crayons stains on the walls. Also, if you made a mistake when writing, you can use the outer part of the cucumber to erase the error.

Cures hangover

If you are having headache or hangovers, cut out few slices of cucumber and eat before going to bed, you will wake up feeling good and headache free.

Cucumbers contain about 90% of water, vitamins B and electrolytes which helps the body to replenish lost nutrients.

Pest-free garden

Place some slices of cucumbers into a small tin and keep in the garden. The chemicals in cucumbers react in a way pests dislike. You won't be able to perceive the chemicals but pests can and it will drive them away from your garden for good.

Pests will be history in your garden if you do this periodically :)

Things people say that actually mean nothing

The tongue is a very powerful part of the body, therefore, our words describe who we really are.

Most times when we communicate among ourselves, we find out that those conversations are filled with many empty words.

Unfortunately, most times we talk and talk without saying most of anything at all.

Check out some of the things we say that actually mean nothing.

LMAO and LOL

Most times, we use "LOL" to end a conversation when chatting with someone. Other times we use it to mean "i only made a joke" or "i know you made a joke." Whenever we type those words, are we really laughing out loud?

There was a time an old lady that lives down my street thought "LOL" meant "lots of love" and the poor woman wrote it for her cat when it died. That incident always makes me laugh each time i remember it.

"LOL" is the most common of all internet slangs which actually means nothing.

NO OFFENSE

When we say "no offense," what we are really saying is this, "i know this is going to offend you, but i had to say it anyway." Saying "no offense" actually makes whatever you intend to say or have already said more annoying and offensive.

BOYS WILL ALWAYS BE BOYS/ MEN WILL ALWAYS BE MEN

This phrase has been used to excuse the wrong doings of young boys. When we use this phrase, it only seems we are saying it is ok for young boys to behave improperly.

Likewise the phrase "men will always be men," which is also used to excuse wrongdoings. A lady might suspect her man is cheating on her and confide in a friend, and that friend says "men will always be men." It only implies that all men should cheat because they are men and it is right for them to cheat.

ONE STEP AT A TIME

There are some certain things in life that we can control, there are also things we cannot control such as time.

There are times when we need to take two or more steps at a time. There are times when we need to complete two or more tasks in a day! In this case taking one step at a time is totally out of the question.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON

It is ok to believe that everything happens for a purpose but it is really weird for people to think they can always say that to all victims of tragedy. You shouldn't really say that to soneone that lost a dear one.

GIRLS WILL ALWAYS BE GIRLS

Girls are always known to be lovers of material things such as shoes, handbags and all girly stuff.

When some ladies go to an extent to get what they want, what some people will say is "girls will always be girls". This is doesn't help matters at all because it looks like they are being encouraged to continue going to great lengths to get what they want.

Avoid licking your lips

This tends to dry the lips further and make them flaky. Many people always lick their lips when they feel its dry. Whenever you feel your lips are dry, apply lip balm on your lips instead of licking them. Always have a lipbalm in your pockets all the time, this is essential for both men and women.

Lip exfoliation

This is the removal of dead skin from the lips. This can be done through many ways, but one of the simplest ways of is by using a toothbrush with some vaseline to rub around the lips in a circular motion for some seconds before rinsing off with warm water.

Another way of exfoliating the lips is by exfoliating with sugar and vinegar oil. After mixing both together, apply on your lips and scrub off using a toothbrush. Always remember to apply lip balm or vaseline immediately after exfoliating.

Lip balm application

Always moisturise your lips with a lip balm. For the ladies, if you must use another lip care product such as lipstick or lip gloss, be sure to apply your lip balm first.

Always relax your lip muscles

Avoid clenching or tightening your lips. Relax your lips by opening them slightly, this makes one's lips appear bigger and sexier.

Flaky, dry and dark lips will be things of the past after you must have taken the above steps. In little or no time you will be able to achieve your kissable lips and show them off!

Skin benefits of lime:- A MUST READ

Citrus fruits are known for their beneficial effects on the skin and lime is no exception.

Lime juice, whether taken orally or applied topically, benefits your skin in several ways. It is also rich in antioxidants like vitamin c, citric acid and flavonoids.

Benefits of lime

Treats dark spots

Lime is a natural bleaching agent due to its skin lightening properties. It can be used to lighten dark spots. All you need to do is to apply it with a cotton pad to the dark spots on your skin and leave it for 30 minutes.

However, ensure to stay indoors and avoid direct exposure to sunlight as this remedy can make the skin sensitive to sunlight.

Also, it is advisable to apply sunscreen before venturing out. You can also use this remedy to lighten dark underarms.

Treatment of acnes and blemishes

Is lime good for acne? Acne, pimples and blemishes are caused when dirt,  oil and dead skin cells clog the pores. Acne and pimples are common problems of people with oily skin. The bacteria present in facial pores aggravate the inflammation thereby increasing redness and soreness. The antibiotic properties of the lime juice prevents the growth of acne-causing bacteria.

To keep pimples and acne at bay, prepare a face pack with lime juice and honey. Honey posseses antibacterial properties that prevent the growth of bacteria, and the acidic nature of lime juice helps to control excess oil.

This face pack should be used 2-3 times weekly as part of your weekly regimen.

Anti-ageing properties

With the progression of age and exposure to UV rays, melanin which imparts colour to your skin can build up and get accumulated in your skin, giving rise to dark spots and other signs of ageing.

The peel of lime inhibits melanin production. Scrubbing your skin with lime peel or applying facial mask containing bits of lime peel can significantly reduce this hyper-pigmentation.

Treats skin tan

Excessive sun exposure can tan your skin. Lime juice can be used to remove this tan effectively. All you need to do is to mix some gram flour with curd and add some lime juice to this mixture. Apply this mixture on your skin and allow to dry. Leave it for twenty minutes before washing out.

Treats open pores

Astringents are effective in causing temporary tightening of muscles. This is the reason why they are often used in beauty and skincare products for improving the appearance of facial skin. Lime juice possesses astringent properties and can be used to tighten pores and temporarily reduce oil production to provide a brighter and flawless complexion.

Removal of dead skin

The citric acid present in lime peels can slough off dead skin cells. They are often used for beauty treatments in spas as well as home remedies to improve the health and appearance of facial skin.

For glowing skin

To obtain that glowing look, all you need to do is to drink a glass of lukewarm water with some honey and freshly squeezed lime juice, early in the morning. This should be done regularly. It will definitely provide a glow to your skin.

Treatment of dandruff

Dandruff is a common hair problem most people face. It is a condition characterised by excess flaking of the scalp. Lime juice is often used as an ingredient in anti-dandruff shampoos. Citric acid present in lime juice has been found to be very effective and beneficial in dealing with dandruff.

To get rid of dandruff, rub lime juice slightly on the scalp. Rinsing hair with lime juice added to water also helps to check the problem of dandruff.

However, lime juice dries up the scalp, so it is ideal to mix it with olive oil, almond oil or coconut oil, before applying it to the scalp.

Lime also helps to rejuvenate the skin and protects it from infections, thanks to its antioxidant, disinfectant and antibiotic properties.

The presence of large amounts of  vitamin C and flavonoids in lime juice helps to reduce body odour and sweat. For this reason, you can mix some lime juice in your bathing water to get a rejuvenating bath experience!

Effective ways to get rid of eye bags

Eyes are the window to the body. Your eyes show whether you are happy, sad or depressed. As we grow older, some parts of the face especially the eyes, gets more vulnerable to aging than the cheeks and other parts of the face. This happens because the area around the eyes is so thin, so it is more vulnerable to damage and it is the first place we start noticing changes.

Facial beauty begins with beautiful eyes. The skin around the eyes is obe of the most sensitive areas on the body.

The eyes are the first part of the face other people easily notice. It is important to look after the eyes because as we age, wrinkles and eye bags set in.

Another major problem for ladies is the problem of dark circles under the eyes, especially for those that use kajal and mascara for a long period of time.

However, there are some simple home remedies that are sure to give you those wonderful eyes you crave for;

Cucumber

You can massage a grated cucumber  ice cube on the eyes. There is an alternative for this, place a thin slice of cucumber on the eye for some minutes. It works great at soothing the eyes.

Tea bags

Don't toss a tea bag into the trash can. It helps to reduce eye puffiness. Any tea bag will do for this treatment. This is done by placing a cooled tea bag on your eyes while you rest.

Raw irish potato

To lighten dark circles under the eyes, wrap a grated irish potato in chiffon fabric or any other such material and apply to the eyelids for at least twenty minutes. After twenty minutes, rinse it off with cold water.

Get enough rest

Get at least 7-8 hours sleep each day. Do not sleep on your stomach, rather, its better to sleep on your back. This is necessary so that your head will be elevated when you sleep and make fluid not to build up around your eyes.

Cold water usage

Always splash cold water on your face as this helps to reduce eye puffiness. Cold water splash constricts the blood vessels which helps to reduce swelling. Please do not apply the cold water on your face for more than a few minutes.

Cold spoons

This tightens up the skin around the eyes and also relaxes the blood vessels. This is done by chilling some metal spoons in the refridgerator. Then the round part of the spoon should be held against the eye until the spoon gets warm. Replace that spoon with another chilled one.

Remove all makeup

Make sure you wash off your makeup before going to bed otherwise,  the makeup can make your eyes puffy in the morning.

Lets go milky

Dip cotton balls in chilled milk and place on your eyelids. Relax for 20-30 minutes. It helps in cooling off the eyes, thereby reduces the risk of eye bags.

Age and other factors such as stress can also let the muscles sag. But with these simple home remedies, you can say goodbye to eye bags :)

Amazing facts about that golden liquid called "urine"

The name "urine" comes from the latin word "urina" which means "to flow".

Urine is a waste product and the only two things most of us do with urine is to flush it out and to use for test in the laboratory. However, these are not the only things urine can be done with.

image: Grove Pashley /getty images

image: Arthur Tiller/getty images

As disgusting as it may sound, studies have it that urine can be used for a whole lot of things ranging from drinking it to using as a leather softner.  Aha! weird, huh?

Below are some things urine can be used for:-

As teeth whitener

Ancient Romans used urine to clean and whiten their teeth. The ancient Greek also used urine to clean their teeth because urine contains hydrogen peroxide which removes stains from teeth. Ammonia is also found in urine which has the ability to kill bacteria.

Cleansing agent

Yes, urine stinks and the odour is unbearable. But urine is a very good cleaning agent and it contains ammonia which is a substance contained in today's cleaning products.

Leather softener

Roman tanners used to soak hides in urine whose urea decays into ammonia which helps to loosen and remove pieces of hair from the leather and softens it for tanning.

Phone charging

Phone charging? Yes, you read right! Bacteria that feeds on urine produces enough power that can be used to charge phone.

Scientists in the United Kingdom say its possible to charge a phone with urine by using microbial fuel cells, which converts waste into electricity. In Nigeria, three teenage girls unveiled a urine powered generator. This is really amazing.

Drink it

There was am ancient yoga practise that helped promote meditation which was drinking of one's early morning urine. Auto-urine therapy is believed to help cure diseases ranging from cough to cancer because it contains antibodies, vitamins and minerals. This practise of drinking urine is common in China but has been banned in Cameroon.

However, because of the salt concentration in urine, the urine therapy is better to drink treated using a special membrane and sugar solution. If you are going to drink your urine, drink the early morning urine and also drink plenty of water that day.

This practise is good for people that drink frequent water but not ideal for peple that drink too much alcohol.

Cures impotence

The urine therapy for impotence was introduced by ayurvedic physicians in India as well as Taoist doctors in China.

Traces of male hormones androgen and testerone has been found in urine . When urine is mixed with bran and pig's liver, it is believed to cure impotence ( really disgusting mixture ).

Treatment of infertility

It has been discovered that the urine of menopausal women contains large quantities of hormones that stimulate ovulation.

Urotherapy has been in existence for years. Urine is not just an ordinary waste product, this golden liquid equally has some unique properties.

Have a nice day
