Unique benefits of olive oil

This liquid gold as described by Homer was commonly used in Egypt as a cosmetic. It is still used today to keep skin, nails and hair healthy and beautiful. It also promotes digestion and lubricates mucous membranes. As we all know, olive oil is one of the healthiest vegetable oil and so very good for consumption.

Doesn't clog pores

Olive oil penetrates deeply into the skin while providing a cleansing effect unlike commercial moisturisers. Try using organic olive oil as a substitute for your regular moisturiser. Use it the same way you would a regular moisturiser and paper towel to remove excess oil. This helps to enhance the skin tone.

Beauty Booster

Many women use it as a makeup remover. It is also used as an ingredient in homemade face masks. It is also a very good substitute for shaving cream. It helps to stimulate the process of skin healing. It soothes and heals skin irritation. This liquid gold is great at treating sun burns.

Stretch marks remover

Olive oil prevents stretch marks and also helps in lightening the ones that are present. It also increases the elasticity of the skin. Use olive oil for hot massage on the affected areas at least thrice a week until it disappears.

As sunscreen

Olive oil does not only treat sun burns, it also works well as sunscreen. You only have to apply olive oil all over your body and leave for one hour. Then you rinse it, don't wash so that a residue will be left on your skin. This acts as a natural sunscreen.

Enhances exfoliation

Olive oil can be used as an exfoliator. This is done by mixing 1tbsp of olive oil and natural sea salt together, then rub all over the skin. This mixture removes dead skin cells and leaves the skin fresh and glowing.

Face mask

A facemask can be made by blending 1tbsp of olive oil, 1tbsp of honey and egg yolk together until they form a smooth paste. Apply this paste to the face and allow to stay for 30 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water.

Thicker eyelashes

Most ladies wish to have thicker, longer lashes, so to achieve this look, they fix artificial eyelashes and make use of mascara. As you are reading this piece, this is the right time to say goodbye to them. Olive oil can do the trick naturally, just apply olive oil to your lashes using a clean mascara brush. This results in longer, shiny and fuller lashes.

Bad breath

Mix one tbsp of olive oil with one tbsp of lemon juice amd consume on an empty stomach in the morning. This works like magic in treating bad breath. This should be done everyday or at least five times in a week.

Make olive oil your hair's best buddy as this helps to prevent breakage, split ends and dryness while keeping your hair soft and shiny at the same time. Always give your hair a hot oil treatment, this is done by heating the oil without making it too hot if not it will lose its benefits. Use this oil to massage your hair.
