If you plan wearing purple to a party and you desire a subtle look, combine the colour with gold or red. It can be a purple dress with gold details. This look is very classy especially if wearing a dark shade of purple.

Tone down the look

When wearing bold purple tones, let your purple garment stand out by wearing it with subtle colours that complement without competing. For instance, choose vibrant contrasting colours to create a bold look when wearing a light shade of purple. However, if you are in a mood to wear a bright shade of purple, consider dark accessories or a black blazer to go along. Dark purple on the other hand, should be teamed with light neutral colours like beige and cream.

Play safe

The colour purple is really beautiful, however, judicious use of the colour is necessary to get the desired result. If you are not confident about being able to decide the right colour mix, try adding a hint of purple to your attire with putple accessories.

Accessories

Avoid purple shoes and any kind of purple dresses which are the same colour from top to bottom. Too much of purple from head to toe will simply give you the look of a clown. I bet you wouldn't want that.

Purple pops when worn with black, gray and silver, create a modernized look.

If you are reserved and feel purple suede shoes are too bright for you, you can substitute them for a simple black pump, black ballet shoes or a great pair of boots.
